MOVIE NEWS – Chloe Zhao’s latest film adapts Maggie O’Farrell’s acclaimed novel Hamnet, exploring one of the most pivotal moments in William Shakespeare’s life.
The two-time Oscar-winning director of Nomadland returns to intimate drama with a story about grief. The film portrays Shakespeare and his wife mourning the death of their son Hamnet while the playwright begins to create the masterpiece that would later become Hamlet.
Paul Mescal plays Shakespeare, with Jessie Buckley portraying his wife, Agnes. For Zhao, this project marks a return to her artistic roots after her disappointing foray into blockbuster territory with Eternals.
