In one case, a rumor was confirmed, and in another, something new was revealed.
Let’s start with the broadcast that will arrive sooner. IO Interactive and Sony Interactive Entertainment have announced that on September 3, at 11 AM Pacific, there will be a State of Play featuring more than 30 minutes of gameplay from 007: First Light. During the broadcast, we will see James Bond’s first MI6 mission, followed by behind-the-scenes details from the Danish developers about the game, which is planned for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The broadcast will be available on YouTube and Twitch.
Kojima Productions is also preparing a show called Beyond The Strand. This event will celebrate the 10 years the Japanese studio has spent free since leaving Konami. It will take place on September 23 at 1 PM JST at Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills Screen7. Tickets are available through Lawson Ticket for 7700 yen ($52), but those who prefer to follow online will also have the option to stream it. Hosted by Hideo Kojima, the show will feature celebrity guests and provide a glimpse into the studio’s upcoming projects (OD, or Overdose, for Xbox; Physint, a non-Metal Gear title, for Sony…).
So, we can definitely count on two broadcasts this month. Rumors also suggest a Nintendo Direct might take place on September 11 or 12, though we won’t go into detail here, as we’re only covering the two official events. What happens afterward remains uncertain, but if Nintendo confirms its Direct, we will return to it in later coverage.
The bottom line: the 007: First Light rumor has been confirmed.
