Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are collaborating to revive Rayman, who turned 30 yesterday.
In a 30th-anniversary message (embedded below), brand producer Loïc Gounon announced that the two studios are working together on Rayman’s future. The character debuted on September 1, 1995 on PS1. Last October, Ubisoft confirmed Montpellier and Milan had begun exploring the Rayman brand, with the project still early. Insider Gaming likewise reported that a Rayman remake is in early development. In May, Ubisoft Milan posted openings for a 3D gameplay animator and a senior game designer on a prestigious AAA Rayman title. So, what did Gounon say?
“Hello everybody, my name is Loïc Gounon, joining from Ubisoft Montpellier. We’re grateful to be part of this event and to speak directly to you, the fans. I joined Ubisoft 20 years ago and have worked on Rayman since 2006 (Raving Rabbids, Origins, Legends). Born in Montpellier in 1995, Rayman has had many adventures thanks to studios like Ubisoft Paris, Milan, and Annecy.
Starting now, we’ll celebrate this incredible history across our community channels—sharing behind-the-scenes content, anecdotes, interviews, concept art and more. Rayman wouldn’t be a legend without you. As mentioned before, talented teams at Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are currently working on Rayman’s future. Don’t expect news too soon, but rest assured: Rayman is in good hands.”
So, it’s still premature to speculate on target platforms and release timing.
