Square Enix Drops a Cryptic Update on Final Fantasy 7: Remake 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4, Fans Already Speculating

Square Enix has shared a brief but encouraging update on Final Fantasy 7: Remake 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4, stressing that both projects are advancing smoothly. Tetsuya Nomura reassured fans that development is going according to plan; in fact, a new Final Fantasy announcement is already on the horizon.

Square Enix isn’t slowing down. In recent days, the publisher has grabbed headlines with new titles like Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, but behind the scenes, it’s quietly working on far bigger undertakings. We’re talking about Kingdom Hearts 4 and the third chapter of Final Fantasy VII: Remake—two projects progressing in silence, yet, according to one of the company’s top figures, moving ahead at a solid pace.

The update came from Tetsuya Nomura in a recent stream dedicated to Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis (as relayed by Genki on X). While keeping his words to a minimum, Nomura confirmed: “The third part of Final Fantasy VII: Remake is progressing very well. The timing of the announcement has already been decided, and we’re sticking to that plan, so please don’t worry and just wait.” It’s not much, but at least it shows that Square Enix has a clear strategy for when and how to roll out new information.

As for Kingdom Hearts 4, Nomura’s comments were equally restrained: “It is also progressing well and according to plan.”

Final Fantasy 7: Remake Part 3 Is a Top Priority at Square Enix

Although Nomura hasn’t gone beyond a few brief statements, it’s clear that Square Enix is devoting serious effort to Final Fantasy VII: Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4. The continuation of Cloud’s saga has become one of the publisher’s top strategic priorities.

Kingdom Hearts 4 remains even more enigmatic. Announced back in 2022, the project has offered next to nothing in terms of updates about its progress or gameplay features. Following the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, Square Enix tried to win back trust by unveiling never-before-seen footage of the fourth installment, but concrete details are still scarce. For now, fans have no choice but to wait until the company finally reveals more about what lies ahead in this fantasy world.
