Dark Pigeon Games and ESDigital Games are making their side-scrolling action game, released almost a year ago, available on multiple consoles.

In Awaken: Astral Blade, players take on the role of Tania as she embarks on her most perilous mission yet. She must uncover the ancient, dark secrets of a long-lost civilization on the mysterious Horace Islands. This 2D action-adventure game allows players to create their own story as they master Tania’s speed, skills, and weapons to battle deadly mutant creatures lurking across the island. Players join Tania, a bionic girl, as she is sent into the Horace Islands’ rainforests in search of a missing team of researchers. Once there, she discovers Karpas energy flooding the islands and mutating the animals and plants into deadly mutants.

As she journeys deeper into the forest, she discovers the centuries-old remains of Jacha City—a long-lost civilization thought to be extinct—and the former Royal Altar, which is ground zero of the Karpas energy source. Tania’s true journey begins here as she uncovers ancient secrets buried deep within the ruins. She must discover the truth about the Karpas Energy and her own origins and destiny. The game is part of the third phase of the China Hero Project, Sony Interactive Entertainment Shanghai’s program supporting Chinese developers, and it was recognized with the “Best in Play” award at GDC 2024.

Parry enemy attacks to gain an advantage. Use the Quick Rise ability to get back into the fight. Run at enemies as they attack to slow down the world around you and become immune to damage. Combos and skills will also help you get through hordes of enemies and defeat bosses. Help Tania make decisions at crucial moments in the game, and follow your own path to reveal the mysteries of the past and present. Different routes can lead to different endings. Search the Horace Islands for clues and information about the mysterious and dangerous world of Awaken: Astral Blade.

You can improve Tania’s combat skills and strength or spend the points on different abilities that are useful in various situations. You could also upgrade your weapons or trade some Aether for useful items. The choice is yours. The map is designed to help you save time while exploring. If you’re having trouble in combat, you can lower the difficulty level to gain useful skills. Tania will always have encouraging words for you, even in your darkest moments. After all, this is not only her story, but yours as well.

Awaken: Astral Blade was released on October 22 last year for the PlayStation 5 and PC. It will also be available for the Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime this year.
