Paradox Messes Up Again with Another DLC!

This time, the publisher angered players with a DLC for Crusader Kings 3, causing us to call them greedy.

Paradox Interactive is under fire from Crusader Kings 3 players after botching another DLC. Just a day after its release, Coronations received a “mostly negative” rating on Steam. According to players, the DLC adds nothing new, comparable only to a Steam Workshop mod or a minor free update. They argue it should have been free instead. Even positive reviews criticize Coronations for offering very little value. In a lengthy post on Steam, CK3 QA manager Riad issued an apology.

“I’m sorry. Coronations was not up to the standard you deserve, and that’s on me… Clearly, we didn’t give the project the necessary resources and attention, resulting in a disappointing release. You have every right to be upset, and I openly acknowledge that…” wrote Riad.

The bigger issue is that this isn’t an isolated case. Just weeks ago, Paradox was forced to walk back a plan to lock two Bloodlines 2 clans behind a $30 DLC paywall. Last year, the company apologized for a similar debacle with Cities: Skylines 2, and a few years earlier with Europa Universalis 4.

Critics also point out that, despite apologizing, Paradox continues to charge the full $5/€5 for the DLC. The company did refund the infamous Beach Properties DLC for Cities: Skylines 2 and made it free for all players, but so far, there’s no indication the same will happen here.
