Nintendo has finally confirmed the long-awaited news: Retro Studios’ Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch this December on Nintendo Switch 2 and the original model.
After a sudden accident, Samus finds herself stranded on the mysterious planet Viewros. Players must scan their surroundings for clues, make the most of their weapons and gear, and master their newfound psychic abilities alongside their advanced vehicle, the Vi-O-La, to traverse and survive the hostile terrain. Every tool at your disposal will be necessary to escape. Samus Aran remains one of the galaxy’s most formidable bounty hunters, capable of completing any mission, regardless of the risks.
Viewros introduces players to an untamed world, where Samus first awakens in the lush depths of an ancient jungle. Stone statues and ruined temples hide clues about the planet’s mysteries, while grotesque alien creatures lurk in the shadows. The psychic abilities she acquires unlock powerful new options to overcome obstacles. The Lamorn, an alien race that once inhabited Viewros, presents her with a crucial request, while Sylus, a mysterious rival bounty hunter, emerges harboring a deep grudge against both the Galactic Federation and Samus herself.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to bring several technological upgrades. The Joy-Con 2 controllers can be used traditionally or like a mouse, with the right controller offering precision aiming and navigation. Explore Viewros in higher resolution, faster frame rates, and with full HDR support for richer visuals. Quality Mode emphasizes detail with 4K/60 FPS for docked devices and 1080p/60 FPS for handheld devices. Performance Mode focuses on fluidity with 1080p/120 FPS docked and 720p/120 FPS handheld. Both modes support HDR.
The biggest news: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches worldwide on December 4. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will cost $70, while the original Switch version will be $60, with an optional $10 upgrade pack available.
