Practical Magic 2 – Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock Return for a Bewitching Sequel

MOVIE NEWS – Nicole Kidman confirmed on Instagram that filming for Practical Magic 2 has officially wrapped. Arriving 28 years after the original, the sequel brings her back together with Sandra Bullock and draws inspiration from Alice Hoffman’s novel The Book of Magic. The film is set for a September 2026 theatrical release, just in time for the Halloween season.

Nicole Kidman took to Instagram to share that production on Practical Magic 2 is complete. The Oscar-winning actress posted a behind-the-scenes clip showing her and Sandra Bullock walking arm in arm across a meadow at sunset. The video ends with laughter and a warm embrace, and Kidman captioned it: “That’s a wrap on Practical Magic 2. Thank you to the cast & crew for all your magic.”

The teaser didn’t reveal much, but it was enough to spark excitement among fans of the 1998 fantasy film. The new story adapts Alice Hoffman’s 2021 novel The Book of Magic, following three generations of Owens women — including Sally’s daughters and a long-lost brother — as they journey across London, Paris, and the English countryside in a quest to break a centuries-old curse.

Who Joins the Cast of Practical Magic 2?

Practical Magic 2 hits theaters on September 18, 2026. Kidman and Bullock reprise their roles, joined by Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing as the aunts Jet and Frances. Evan Rachel Wood, who played Sally’s eldest daughter Kylie, has not been invited back, with Warner Bros. opting to recast the role. Alexandra Artrip, who portrayed Antonia, has retired from acting and won’t return either.

Fresh faces in the cast include Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Lee Pace (Foundation), Xolo Maridueña (Blue Beetle), and Solly McLeod (The Dead Don’t Hurt). Joey King of The Kissing Booth is also part of the ensemble and is expected to take on the role of Kylie, central to Hoffman’s book. Her arc involves uncovering her family’s dark secrets and awakening her own magical powers.

The sequel is directed by Susanne Bier with a screenplay by Georgia Pritchett and Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the original. Bullock and Kidman also serve as producers alongside Denise Di Novi. Fans will discover the full spellbinding story when the Owens family returns to the big screen in fall 2026.
