EA Sports FC 26 on PC Broken? Controllers Keep Disconnecting Mid-Game!

Is your controller dying mid-match while playing EA Sports FC 26 on PC? You’re not alone—and the issue is far more serious than it first appears. EA has acknowledged the bug, and teams are already investigating the cause.

The new season has kicked off, and players are hitting the pitch in EA Sports FC 26. The game launched its 10-hour trial on September 18, and Ultimate Edition buyers are already enjoying early access. However, for PC players, the debut hasn’t been smooth: reports are flooding in of a bug that automatically disconnects controllers during matches.

The problem has become so widespread that EA has stepped in. According to a post on X by EA Sports FC Direct Communication, developers are investigating the root cause and urging players to follow progress on the EA Sports FC Tracker. This Trello-based platform highlights the team’s current priorities.

Ultimate Edition Buyers Are Frustrated

The controller disconnection bug on PC appears to be more severe than expected. Over 13 hours have passed since EA acknowledged the issue, and no solution has been rolled out yet. To make matters worse, other problems are being reported too: full system freezes and lag are plaguing some players.

That leaves Ultimate Edition buyers frustrated—they paid extra for early access, only to face a buggy launch. At the time of writing, the game holds a “Mixed” rating of 51% on Steam (based on 300 reviews, a number likely to grow when the Standard Edition drops on September 26). User feedback includes comments such as: “10 minutes into the game and it already froze” (Lugo), and “It’s always been abysmal on PC. I fixed the lag by disabling shadows, fixed stuttering by raising graphics, and somehow reduced input delay by enabling motion blur. At this point, it’s less a football sim and more a guessing game about what EA left broken” (Fruit.Salad).

EA will likely deliver patches, but right now, early adopters feel burned by paying for an experience that doesn’t work as promised.
