The Last of Us Star Pedro Pascal Weighs In On Charlie Kirk Controversy

MOVIE NEWS – Political tensions in the United States have escalated further after the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. The tragedy has shaken both politics and entertainment, leading to the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show and sparking protests in Hollywood. Among the outspoken stars is Pedro Pascal, the lead of The Last of Us.

Following the September 10 killing of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, reactions across the globe have been sharply divided. Kirk’s controversial legacy has not only fueled debate but also caused ripple effects in unexpected places.

One of the biggest consequences: Jimmy Kimmel lost his late-night platform. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host commented on Kirk’s murder and Donald Trump’s response to it.

“The MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel remarked. Speaking about Trump, he added, “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”

After these comments, conservative viewers and the Trump administration pressured Disney-owned ABC to suspend the show. In a country that prides itself on free speech, this action sparked outrage in Hollywood.

Among those protesting were MCU actress Tatiana Maslany and Pedro Pascal. The The Last of Us star posted a photo with Kimmel on Instagram, captioned: “Standing with you @jimmykimmellive. Defend #FreeSpeech Defend #DEMOCRACY.”

Pascal, who portrayed Joel Miller in HBO’s acclaimed adaptation, is no stranger to activism. On his Instagram stories, he reposted SAG-AFTRA’s condemnation of the suspension and shared a @humanrightscampaign image reading: “This is what fascism looks like.”

Fans praised his courage. One wrote: “Thank you for consistently using your voice and platform to support the right side of history. Appreciate your light in the dark, Babygirl.”
