GTA 5’s Trevor Actor Rejects Video Games – He’d Rather Recommend Dostoevsky

Steven Ogg, best known as Trevor Philips in Grand Theft Auto V, couldn’t be further from the violent outlaw he portrayed. The actor admitted he has no interest in GTA 6 or games in general, as his true passion lies in books – especially Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment.

Steven Ogg rose to fame as Trevor Philips in Grand Theft Auto V, but in real life he has little in common with the chaotic character. Although series like The Walking Dead encouraged him to channel Trevor’s energy, and he even appeared in Red Dead Redemption 2, the Canadian performer insists he’s never been attached to gaming. He recently reaffirmed this by bluntly saying he doesn’t care about GTA 6.

Rather than joining in the fan hype, Ogg defended his outlook: playing a role doesn’t mean carrying that persona outside the studio. His approach stands in sharp contrast to the passion of millions of gamers eagerly awaiting Rockstar’s next title, hailed as the “biggest reveal in gaming history.” Ogg also stressed that he is not a gamer: “I’ve never played a video game, so I have absolutely no feelings for the game.”

For Steven Ogg, Reading Comes Before Gaming

In a conversation with content creator HarrisonShippp, the actor went further by suggesting people should put down GTA 5 and pick up Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment instead. “Books are my thing,” he declared, making it clear where his heart lies.

This wasn’t just an offhand remark. Ogg explained that even when asked about games, he uses the opportunity to recommend literature, pressing his interviewer on why 19th-century classics still matter. To him, this isn’t about being contrarian, but about sharing his lifelong devotion to books.

By distancing himself from the GTA 6 frenzy, Steven Ogg reminds fans that not every actor experiences gaming the way players do. While millions are waiting for Rockstar’s blockbuster sequel, he remains committed to his authentic self and the world of literature.
