Gran Turismo 7 is receiving another significant update, and the nearly 30-year-old franchise is celebrating impressive sales figures.
In December, Gran Turismo 7 will receive a significant update called Spec III. This update will include two new tracks, Yas Marina Circuit and Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve; eight new cars; Dunlop tires; and the Data Logger feature. The Collector Level cap has been increased, car invitations in Brand Central are now unlimited, and Weekly Challenges have been enhanced. The update will also bring a new opening movie, a new menu book, seasonal menu events, and new curations in Scapes. There will also be improvements to online races.
Here’s a message from Kazunori Yamauchi, creator and producer of the Gran Turismo franchise:
“Picking up a video game box in a store and lining up at the register to purchase it takes at least a few minutes. To think that this has happened more than 100 million times worldwide really blows my mind. I want to thank everyone in the automobile industry who has made and continues to make automotive history, everyone at Sony, and all the retailers who have passionately supported the Gran Turismo series. Of course, I would also like to thank all the players who have championed Gran Turismo over the past 28 years. This monumental achievement of selling 100 million units was made possible because of you. Thank you very much. We will strive to continue making great products in the future,” said Yamauchi.
Gran Turismo has now reached 100 million total sales in its nearly 28-year history. It has been available on every platform since the PS1, except for the PlayStation Vita. Whether it’s Gran Turismo 2 with its hundreds of cars, Gran Turismo 4 with its massive content, or Gran Turismo 5, which finally came out on PS3 at the end of 2010 after many delays, we have many memories associated with the franchise.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on reaching this incredible milestone!
