[SOP 2025] PlayStation Plus: What Will Sony Add by the End of the Year?

In addition to the October lineup for the Essential tier of PlayStation Plus, Sony has revealed which games will be available on the two more expensive tiers.

Thankfully, Sony didn’t wait until October 1st to announce the lineup, as is traditional. Sony announced all of this during another State of Play, so we won’t have to spend a few minutes summarizing it at 5:30 p.m. on October 1st. There were no leaks, but let’s take a look at the three games that PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will have access to.

The headline title for October is Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake II (PlayStation 5). The Finnish team presumably made this decision because Epic Games Publishing has not yet recouped its costs for the game, so Remedy does not have many royalties from sales. The second game is Cocoon for the PlayStation 5 and 4. The third game is Goat Simulator 3 (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4). The September lineup is still available: Psychonauts 2 (PlayStation 4), Stardew Valley (PlayStation 4), and Viewfinder (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4).

Let’s take it up a notch. On September 26, the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, accessible to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, will expand with two new games. One is The Last of Us Part II (PS4), and the other is The Last of Us Part II Remastered (PS5) in celebration of The Last of Us Day.

And now, let’s go up another level. The PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog, available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, will soon be expanded by three games, but we’ll tell you what the company is going to do. Sony will add one game per month to the list. The three games are Tekken 3 (PS1), Soulcalibur III (PS2), and Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PS2). It’s shameful how stingy they are at this level.
