MOVIE NEWS – Henry Cavill only showed his bandaged leg, but Warhammer 40,000 fans immediately spotted three possible hints about the upcoming Amazon series. We still don’t know what the actor and the tech giant are planning, but experts have already mapped out three plausible storylines.
Famous actor and former Superman Henry Cavill is arguably the most passionate Warhammer 40,000 fan in Hollywood. Not only has he repeatedly expressed his love for Games Workshop’s sci-fi fantasy universe, but he’s also been pushing for a large-scale adaptation in collaboration with Amazon. Although the project was announced years ago, concrete story details remain scarce. Now, however, a seemingly innocent social media post might have revealed some intriguing hints about what’s coming.
The British star recently injured himself while training for the upcoming Highlander reboot, forcing him to rest with his leg heavily bandaged. Of course, Cavill is using his downtime to dive back into the world of Warhammer 40,000. At least, that’s what fans believe after analyzing one of the two photos he posted on Instagram. According to them, the image contains several subtle references that could indicate what kind of story he wants to tell in his joint project with Amazon and MGM Studios. It’s a stretch, sure — but it’s fun to speculate. IGN USA (via Mein-MMO) has compiled the most interesting fan theories.
Could a Horus Heresy Series Be on the Way?
Among the books visible in Cavill’s photo is a volume from the Horus Heresy series — a legendary saga about the civil war that nearly tore apart the Imperium of Man, set 10,000 years before the main events of the franchise. As IGN notes, this era laid the foundation for many of the conflicts, factions, and tragedies that define the Warhammer universe today. Would you like to see the series explore this distant past?
The second clue highlighted by IGN points in a different direction. Behind Cavill’s dog, fans noticed a Leviathan box, which contains starter armies for the Ultramarines and Tyranids. This conflict is the central premise of W40K: Space Marine 2, an action shooter that Cavill knows well — and one that could serve as an intense setting for a live-action series. Considering Amazon’s recent push into gaming adaptations, it wouldn’t be a surprising choice.
Finally, Cavill’s Instagram post includes the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley, written in 1875 while the poet was recovering from a leg amputation. The poem is a stirring celebration of resilience, strength, and self-determination — themes that resonate with Cavill as he heals from his injury. But IGN points out another possible meaning: the name may be a reference to Saul Invictus, an Ultramarines captain who died during the first Tyranid invasion of Macragge.
This could be Cavill hinting that he’ll portray Saul Invictus in a series set during the First Tyranid War. Of course, it’s all speculation — but it’s the kind of speculation that keeps fans excited until more details are revealed. Which scenario do you find most compelling? Are you sold on any of these theories? One thing’s certain: the Warhammer 40,000 universe offers more than enough material for an unforgettable TV adaptation.
