After eight years of development, Escape from Tarkov is finally launching its full version, but according to Battlestate Games’ CEO, only 20% of players will ever see the “good” ending – and it won’t be an easy feat.
After more than eight years in beta, Escape from Tarkov will finally reach version 1.0 on November 15, marking a major milestone for both developers and fans. The full release is notable not only because it wraps up a long development cycle but also because the game will finally arrive on Steam after more than five years of exclusivity on the Battlestate Games launcher. However, there’s one crucial detail many players might not realize: for the first time, the campaign mode will truly let you “escape from Tarkov” — but not everyone will reach the real ending.
During a Q&A session at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, Battlestate Games CEO Nikita Buyanov revealed that the campaign will feature four distinct endings. Among them, one will be considered the “best” outcome — but it will also be the hardest to achieve. According to Buyanov, only about 20% of players will actually unlock this ending. In other words, even if you’ve waited eight long years to finish Escape from Tarkov, the odds might not be in your favor.
The community has reacted with mixed feelings. While some players praise the studio’s ambition and bold decisions, others argue that the game isn’t ready to leave beta. The situation hasn’t been helped by the controversy surrounding the need to purchase a new copy if you want to play it on Steam.
Escape From Tarkov’s Journey Won’t End With Version 1.0
Buyanov also confirmed that the arrival of version 1.0 won’t mark the end of Tarkov’s development. The studio plans to introduce two types of playable characters: a seasonal one, subject to the traditional wipe system, and a permanent one that can progress without limits. Battlestate already has more than five years of new content planned, ensuring a long future for the game.
The real test for Escape from Tarkov will begin after its full release. With frequent updates, long-term content plans, and a new presence on Steam, Battlestate Games aims to cement Tarkov’s position as the definitive extraction shooter.
