A new portable gaming beast is here: the OneXFly Player packs an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, delivers up to 120 W of power with liquid cooling, and promises to go wherever you do – despite being three times more powerful than a Switch 2.
The handheld gaming market is nothing new, but the arrival of the Steam Deck and players’ growing demand to enjoy PC-quality gaming on the go has pushed it to the next level. In this landscape – even with the ASUS ROG Ally leading the pack for Xbox – OneXFly is stepping into the ring with the Apex, a handheld that literally puts desktop-level power in the palm of your hand.
Chinese manufacturer One-Netbook, which entered the market in 2021 after a successful crowdfunding campaign and released two models (OneXPlayer and OneXPlayer 2), is raising the bar with the OneXFly Apex. According to the company, the new device offers up to three times the performance of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Behind its 8-inch, 120 Hz display is the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor with 16 cores, 32 threads, and an RDNA 3.5-based GPU. To keep this much power stable in a small device, the Apex can push up to 120 watts to its components and uses a silent liquid cooling system – essential to prevent overheating.
The Apex Crushes Every Competitor
To put things in perspective, comparisons with the Steam Deck OLED, Nintendo Switch 2, and ASUS ROG Ally X highlight the Apex’s dominance. Valve’s handheld has a TDP of just 15 W, limiting its performance. The Taiwanese device reaches 30 W in Turbo+ mode, while Nintendo’s next-gen handheld tops out at 40 W. Apex beats them all – even combining the power of all three wouldn’t match OneXFly’s performance.
However, some practical questions remain. Battery life is still unknown, and many wonder whether the device can deliver its full 120 W of power without being plugged in. Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet either, and it will be key to determining how well Apex competes with existing devices.
With Apex, One-Netbook wants to redefine what a handheld console can be – bringing the power of a high-end gaming laptop to the mobile space. Whether this ambitious vision can translate into a balanced, accessible gaming experience remains to be seen, but portability remains a top priority for the team. We’ll find out soon enough.
