Channel37’s game, a first-person shooter set in a maritime survival scenario, will not spend 1, 2, 3, or 6 months in Early Access on Steam.
It is a first-person survival action-adventure game in which you sail, scavenge, and rebuild in an endless ocean world. Recover lost technology, craft vital systems, and ensure humanity’s future before it’s too late. You are the Last Caretaker, a lone machine reawakened after centuries of silence. The Earth is flooded, and its towering megastructures are rusting under an endless sky. The Seed Vaults remain, containing the last human seeds waiting to be born. Your mission is clear: recover the seeds, reactivate the Lazarus Complex, and send the last of humanity into space. But the world is not as empty as it seems. Machines whisper old protocols, and relics of the past move with purpose. Your every step brings you closer to uncovering the meaning of your existence.
Sail across a vast, open ocean and navigate through the remains of a forgotten civilization. Every location, from towering megastructures and flickering beacons to abandoned seed vaults and fuel stations, holds lost knowledge, vital resources, and pieces of a mystery waiting to be uncovered. Scavenge for and restore ancient technology, craft modular upgrades, and reactivate vital systems to rebuild the Moses infrastructure. Each innovation brings humanity closer to survival, from reviving power grids to reconstructing launch systems.
The Lazarus Complex is the last human sanctuary. It monitors and optimizes the delicate process of human seed growth by balancing power, nutrition, and memory reconstruction. Each launch into space brings humanity one step closer to a future beyond the ocean. The ocean is beautiful, but not safe. Rogue machines, brutal storms, and limited resources will challenge your mission at every turn. Adapt, upgrade, and fight to protect what little remains. You are not human, yet you hold their future in your hands. What does it mean to be human? Can life be reborn through synthetic hands? As you explore, you will uncover the last days of Earth and the truth behind your existence.
The Last Caretaker will launch on PC via Early Access on November 6. This release offers a fully playable survival experience with solid foundations, including dynamic resource management, immersive world-building, crafting, and recycling. The full version, which will not be released for at least 12 months, will feature expanded gameplay systems, new content, and balanced, optimized core mechanics based on user feedback.
