Developed by NeoBards Entertainment (Resident Evil: Resistance, Resident Evil: Re:Verse), the game will not serve as a blueprint for future entries in the franchise.
It seems that even the developers of Silent Hill f didn’t anticipate such a positive response from critics and fans alike. During the Tokyo Game Show last weekend, Motoi Okamoto, the game’s producer, spoke about the latest entry in the Silent Hill series during IGN Japan’s live broadcast, and he admitted that he, too was surprised by how well Konami’s newest title has been received:
“I’m grateful that Silent Hill f was rated higher than I expected. I think you’ll understand once you play it, but because it’s a challenging game, I thought there would be both pros and cons. However, it’s been very well received, and it currently has a Metascore of 86 — the same as Silent Hill 2 Remake. Honestly, I was really surprised. We’ll be releasing something new, with a different flavor. We want to explore various aspects of game design and storytelling,” – said Okamoto.
インタビューで答えているとおり、今後のサイレントヒルが全てfのようなゲーム性になる訳ではなく、1作ごとに異なる味付けのゲーム性を楽しんでいただけるように、常にいい意味で挑戦的なシリーズでありたいと考えています。… https://t.co/URMfUznSxX

This doesn’t necessarily mean that future entries will follow the Silent Hill f formula. Later, Okamoto clarified his statement in a tweet: “As I said in the interview, not all future Silent Hill games will share the same gameplay as f. My goal is for the series to remain challenging in a positive way, offering players a different gameplay experience with each installment. Of course, some things will remain the same — most importantly, the quality of the story. I firmly believe that a psychological narrative is essential to what makes Silent Hill unique, and I will continue to focus on that aspect with confidence as we release future titles.”
With this statement, Konami’s producer essentially confirmed that the Silent Hill franchise will continue to grow with additional titles. And that’s all well and good — as long as they don’t turn into pachinko machines. They’ve made that mistake before…
