It’s borderline insane to show up at Rockstar’s office in the middle of the night just to bother GTA 6 developers — yet that’s exactly what happened. Outrage quickly exploded across social media, even as the culprit vowed to try again.
Let’s be honest: we’re all desperate to get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar’s next big release is shaping up to be a landmark moment in gaming — the kind of cultural event people talk about before, during, and long after launch, not always for the right reasons. But some people are so desperate for attention — or simply for any scrap of information — that they’re willing to fly from the United States to Edinburgh, Scotland, just to stalk Rockstar North employees and pester them about the game.
As you probably know, GTA 6 is set to launch on May 26, 2026 — a day that will surely see a suspicious spike in “sick days.” But waiting can be hard, and while some fans spend their time piecing together the game’s map from preview leaks, others are willing to spend hundreds of dollars and travel eight hours across the Atlantic just to chase viral fame — or risk a police warning.
TikTok user records himself harassing Rockstar staff
The incident was captured and shared on TikTok by the user himself, known as BackonBoulevard. In a 30-second clip, he can be seen lurking outside Rockstar North’s Edinburgh office late at night. When employees leave or approach the building, he repeatedly — and aggressively — asks about the next trailer or whether the game’s release will be delayed.
While the developers did not react violently and the man kept a certain distance, they were clearly uncomfortable. None of them wanted to be filmed, and most avoided answering his questions altogether. Being approached and recorded by a stranger without consent is unsettling under any circumstance — whether you work at Rockstar or not.
Social media reactions were overwhelmingly negative. Although the original TikTok video, which has over 6,500 likes, received a few supportive or humorous comments, many users described the behavior as “disgusting.” Even without a physical confrontation, exposing developers’ identities in a video they never consented to has led many to call for legal action. “This guy should be arrested for harassment,” wrote @SynthPotato on X.
“How unhinged do you have to be to travel abroad and harass strangers, expecting them to break NDAs?” another user commented. The man behind “BackonBoulevard,” based on the U.S. East Coast, has even announced plans to return and livestream his next attempt to approach Rockstar staff.
Such harassment — targeting developers with lives, worries, and families of their own — is not just immoral but potentially criminal. Approaching people at their workplace violates their privacy and could result in charges under Scotland’s Protection from Harassment Act 1997. While the hype for games like Grand Theft Auto VI is intense, the safety and dignity of the people behind them should always come first.
