George Clooney Reveals When Ocean’s Fourteen Will Finally Start Filming

MOVIE NEWS – After years of fan speculation, George Clooney has confirmed that Ocean’s Fourteen is officially moving forward — and he’s even hinted at when audiences can expect Danny Ocean and his crew to return to the big screen.

After a decade of silence, George Clooney has offered a promising update on the future of the legendary heist franchise. According to the actor, the long-awaited sequel is well into the planning stages, giving fans a clearer picture of when Hollywood’s most iconic crew of thieves might reunite. Originally a 1960 Rat Pack remake, the Ocean’s saga has become one of Warner Bros.’ most successful properties. Clooney led the original trilogy, while Sandra Bullock took over for the 2018 spin-off Ocean’s 8. A prequel starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie was once in development, but in 2024, the focus shifted back to a full-fledged sequel, reuniting Clooney with Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts.

Speaking with E! News, Clooney shared an exciting update on production. “We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros., and now we’re working on the logistics. The main thing left is setting a start date,” he explained. And when might filming kick off? “Probably in about nine or ten months.”

When Could Ocean’s Fourteen Hit Cinemas?

If Clooney’s projection is accurate, production is expected to begin in July or August 2026, putting the release window somewhere in 2027 — exactly 20 years after Clooney last portrayed Danny Ocean in 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen. One big question remains: how will the new film address Ocean’s 8’s revelation that Danny Ocean is dead?

The film will be directed by David Leitch, best known for The Fall Guy and Deadpool 2, who will replace long-time series director Steven Soderbergh. Gary Ross helmed Ocean’s 8. While Ocean’s Eleven remains the highest-grossing entry with $450 million worldwide, every installment has surpassed $100 million domestically and been profitable for Warner Bros.. Reuniting Clooney, Pitt, Damon, and Roberts is expected to deliver a heavy dose of nostalgia and potentially a blockbuster hit.

One of the lingering mysteries is who will make up the “fourteen.” Most original cast members are expected to return, but Bernie Mac and Carl Reiner sadly passed away in 2008 and 2020, respectively, leaving two spots open. With Julia Roberts reprising her role in Ocean’s Twelve, there could be up to four new characters. Could Sandra Bullock return as Danny’s sister Deborah, teaming up with her on-screen brother? This might also pave the way for Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, or other Ocean’s 8 stars to return.
