Black Myth: Wukong Gets a Massive 100GB Update to Boost Performance

Game Science is rolling out a huge update for Black Myth: Wukong that could take up to 100GB of storage. The patch, launching on October 13, focuses on performance optimizations and bug fixes, with a gradual rollout planned across all platforms.

Black Myth: Wukong became one of last year’s biggest surprises, earning multiple awards and putting the Chinese game industry firmly on the global map. Despite already announcing a standalone sequel and bringing the title to Xbox Series X|S, Game Science isn’t done with its breakout hit — the studio has now confirmed an enormous 100GB update.

What’s in the Update?

The official Black Myth: Wukong Twitter account confirmed that the update will arrive on October 13, targeting performance improvements and stability enhancements. On PlayStation 5, it requires over 93.5GB of free space, and Game Science has stated that the patch will be rolled out gradually for all platforms. Alongside optimization tweaks, the update will include important bug fixes.

Although detailed patch notes are not yet available, the studio has emphasized that the goal is to improve performance consistency, especially on consoles. The game previously relied on frame generation to hit 60FPS on consoles — a feature that delivered mixed results at launch. This patch aims to stabilize frame rates and enhance the overall experience.

As one of the most demanding titles built on Unreal Engine 5, the game’s performance updates could make a major difference. Meanwhile, Game Science is already developing Black Myth: Zhong Kui, and reports suggest as many as five titles may eventually expand the Black Myth universe.
