A great concept is in the works at Northplay, and the closed alpha will be here soon. You can already sign up for it.
Dinolords is one of those instantly compelling ideas: a colorful fusion of RTS and ARPG mechanics where medieval knights and marauding Vikings clash while riding roaring, thunderous, terrifying reptiles. At the end of the month, developer Northplay will launch a closed alpha test, and players can already sign up to try out the mighty tyrannosaurs. In a post shared on Steam, Northplay explained that the closed alpha will include only a small section of the game. Players will start with a three-part tutorial before gaining access to four distinct maps, two game modes, and a multi-layered campaign.
This setup lets players experience the core systems of Dinolords, which combine traditional RTS mechanics — like base-building and unit management — with action-RPG-style combat. The closed alpha will mainly focus on the Viking faction, though a variety of dinosaurs will also be available for control. One of the key features is that the player’s perspective is tied to the titular “dinolord,” placing them directly at the heart of the battle.
If you’re interested in joining the closed alpha, you can request access on the Dinolords Steam page. Northplay notes that not everyone who applies will receive an invitation and that the studio plans to admit players in waves starting at the end of October. Only the minimum system requirements have been listed so far: a 64-bit OS and processor (standard these days), Windows 10, a 2.4 GHz dual-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM, and a GPU with at least 1 GB of VRAM and DirectX 10 support. In short, any PC built within the past decade should handle it with ease.
According to Northplay, Dinolords will launch first in Early Access and will initially be available exclusively for PC. The game will be published later by Ghost Ship Publishing.
