Battlefield 6 continues to draw criticism for its weak story mode, but EA has made a surprising move: once you finish the campaign, the game suggests deleting it to free up 15 GB of space on both PC and consoles.
When a big shooter launches, most players immediately dive into multiplayer. Still, there’s always a smaller group that appreciates a good single-player campaign — something that adds value to an FPS, and Battlefield 6 is no exception. However, after Battlefield 2042 was released without a campaign, expectations were higher than ever, and the story mode had to meet at least the basic narrative standards the community hoped for.
EA suggests removing the Battlefield 6 campaign once it’s completed
According to Dexerto, after completing the Battlefield 6 campaign, a prompt appears allowing you to uninstall just that mode and free up some space. The main storyline consists of nine missions and weighs around 15 GB, which may increase if you have the HD texture pack installed. EA’s idea is simple: if you’re not planning to replay the story anytime soon, you can keep only the multiplayer mode installed without deleting the entire game.
Ultimately, Battlefield 6 is a live-service title that will be updated with seasonal content, and a free battle royale mode is reportedly on the way in a few weeks. However, EA currently has no plans to add new missions or story-related expansions, which is why the game presents this message: “Congratulations, you’ve completed the campaign. Replay it for extra challenges, or uninstall single-player mode to save space.” A button then appears labeled “Uninstall,” freeing up 15 GB instantly.
The community on Reddit praised the feature as practical and storage-friendly. “The campaign was a mess, so it’s nice to free up the space. This is a really cool feature,” commented one user. Still, many players criticized Battlefield 6’s story for its uninspired writing and lack of character depth, despite its cinematic presentation and impressive destruction effects.
