Square Enix Revives Dissidia with a New Mobile Game: Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy Arrives in 2026!

Fans have been waiting for years, and now the combat-focused Final Fantasy spin-off finally returns. Dissidia Duellum is set to launch in 2026 for Android and iOS, with a closed beta starting this November.

It’s been quite some time since the last Final Fantasy Dissidia title. Many may not realize that Square Enix once had big plans for this battle-oriented spin-off series. Recently, the company confirmed the franchise’s comeback, and now we finally have the first major details about the new installment, which brings back both heroes and villains from across the saga — ready to fight in the palm of your hand.

This is Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy

Square Enix officially unveiled Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, a free-to-play mobile game coming in 2026. Teams of three iconic Final Fantasy characters will engage in real-time cooperative battles against powerful bosses set in a modern-day Tokyo. A closed beta will run from November 6 to 14, testing connectivity, pacing, and combat balance.

The studio also plans to gather feedback from players during the test. While launching on Android and iOS will help the game reach a broader audience, many fans expressed disappointment, having hoped for a Dissidia Duodecim remaster instead. The controls are optimized for one-handed play, allowing users to take command of beloved characters like Kain, Krile, Terra, Cloud, Rinoa, Zidane, Lightning, and Gaia. Though designed for short, fast-paced matches, the title also includes a narrative layer.

The story takes place in a futuristic Tokyo that has long coexisted with a massive crystal at its center. Everything changes when negative energy corrupts the crystal, unleashing monsters across the city. In response, heroes from the Final Fantasy universe appear to defend humanity. After the battles, players will be able to explore a more peaceful life — dressing their heroes in civilian clothes and engaging in daily activities.
