One of 2024’s standout strategy titles is planning new features, but fans believe the developer should prioritize fixing existing issues first. Grzegorz Styczez, the creator of Manor Lords, is considering a “peaceful competitive” mode, though players argue there’s still work to be done.
If you’re a fan of strategy and management games, you probably remember the Manor Lords phenomenon. The game, primarily developed by Grzegorz “Slavic Magic” Styczez, quickly won over fans even during its early access release. Months later, it’s still not fully launched, yet Styczez continues to expand the experience with new content — something players aren’t all that thrilled about, as they’d rather see existing systems refined.
The “peaceful competitive” mode divides the community
This discussion began with an X post on the official Manor Lords account. Styczez used the platform’s polling tool to ask fans: “Would you like a ‘peaceful competitive’ mode where the Lord who levels up their settlement first wins?” While many users responded positively, others reminded him that there are more pressing priorities for the game right now.
Although the idea sounds appealing, several players insist that such a feature should only arrive after the game reaches version 1.0. “This is something you should consider after launch. First, focus on the features players are waiting for,” said pfuryexe. Another player, vlkiller, added: “Right now, it’s a waste of resources. It’s better to do it later when everything’s properly balanced instead of now, when the game still isn’t finished.”
Manor Lords receives a major update with new content
Manor Lords fans are already familiar with Slavic Magic’s slow update pace. Recently, the game made headlines again after the developer finally released a major patch following a year of player complaints. The new update adds fresh maps, game modes, and major improvements to the fortification system.
Styczez acknowledged the delay, saying: “We’re rethinking what went wrong to make sure it doesn’t happen again.” Still, fans fear that work on the “peaceful competitive” mode could once again delay future updates. For now, many in the community just want the developer to fine-tune what’s already there.
