Arc Raiders was released last week, and Embark Studios can be very pleased with the results, considering that it appeared on most current-gen consoles.
Following a successful final beta, Arc Raiders had an excellent start, easily surpassing the peak concurrent users of Embark Studios’ previous game, The Finals. This is especially impressive since The Finals is free to play, while Arc Raiders is not. Last weekend, the third-person PvPvE extraction shooter even surpassed that peak. A few days ago, it had approximately 354,000 concurrent players—an impressive number that currently places the game at number 38 on Steam’s all-time leaderboard.
However, sales are what matter most to developers, and there’s good news there as well. Based on SteamDB-derived estimates, Arc Raiders has sold between 1.6 million (Gamalytic) and 1.9 million (VG Insights and PlayTracker) copies. Considering the game is also available on the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, it’s not unthinkable that total sales are already near 3 million. The affordable $40 price certainly helps, but many shooter fans spent $70 a few weeks ago on the highly successful Battlefield 6 and still decided this game was worth additional money.
While we await Embark’s official sales figures, the studio has shared its post-release content plans for Arc Raiders. At the end of the month, a new map (Stella Montis), new missions, gameplay elements, Arc machines (Matriarch and Shredder), and a community unlock event will arrive. In December, the developers will add more missions, a new Raider pack, the Snowfall map condition, an event called Flickering Flames, and the Expedition launch window. Other developments without a set timeframe include new features and trials, additional map conditions, cosmetic items, and updates to improve the overall experience.
