Europa Universalis V Tips Its Cap To 2025’s RPG Champion – A Subtle Nod Every Kingdom Come Fan Will Spot

Paradox’s grand strategy tucks a neat tribute to Kingdom Come and its blacksmith-turned-hero into its event pool. Here’s why players are celebrating, and what the reference actually says.

If you live and breathe strategy, you’ve likely been neck-deep in Europa Universalis V, Paradox’s 2025 flagship that lets you steer a 14th-century nation to glory. True to grand-strategy form, the scope is dizzying – hundreds of hours can fly by while you’re still unearthing systems, surprises, and, yes, tucked-away references.

One of those nods delights RPG diehards: the event list includes a wink to Henry of Skalice. As one Redditor cheered, “Thank God – it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves.” Others worry many will miss the cue and dismiss it as just another random pop-up, which would be a shame given how on-point the flavor text is.

The event mirrors Warhorse’s tale with surprising fidelity: “Rumors reach Prague of a man of uncommon martial skill. His story reads like a fairy tale, and we cannot tell where myth ends and truth begins.” It continues, “Raised a blacksmith’s son, Henryk Siemomysl, took up the sword when Stribrná Skalice near Kourim was burned in war. He trained hard, journeyed from quiet beginnings into a world of war and adventure – and now Henryk seeks audience.” The rejection option even jabs at his humble birth – “he has forgotten his place” – spelling out the social snub baked into the era.

“That’s Not My Henry” – Portrait Logic 101

Yes, his face won’t match the Kingdom Come protagonist you remember. That’s because, like most EU5 portraits, it’s generated per run rather than hand-authored to mimic Warhorse’s lead. The homage still lands – especially in a year when Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 wrapped an 11-year arc with its third and final DLC. And as for what else EU5 is hiding, expect more discoveries and curios as the community digs through Paradox’s sprawling sandbox.
