Sandfall Interactive’s debut game won in seven categories, and this flood of awards is almost guaranteed to continue.

 

The Golden Joystick Awards kick off the video game industry’s awards season each year. This is due not only to the early announcement of the nominees but also to the early date of the awards ceremony. Although it’s not even December yet, the popular annual awards ceremony has already announced the Game of the Year winner and several other award winners.

Sandfall Interactive’s debut title took home seven awards, including Game of the Year. Sandfall won Studio of the Year, and Clair Obscur swept the performance-based awards. Ben Starr and Jennifer English won for their performances as Verso and Maelle, respectively.

The game won awards for Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, and Best Soundtrack. It was the only game to win more than two awards and won in every category in which it was nominated. Although much of the evening focused on Clair Obscur, it wasn’t the only game to score a big win that night. Ghost of Tsushima took home two awards, including Console Game of the Year, while Hollow Knight: Silksong won PC Game of the Year and Best Self-Published Indie Game.
