IO Interactive’s stealth sandbox is getting a new mission in which a rapper who has been in the spotlight for more than two decades steps into the crosshairs.
For one month, Eminem will join Hitman: World of Assassination, appearing both as himself and as his twisted alter ego, Slim Shady. On his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady, the rapper tried to symbolically wipe out his other persona, but this time he calls in legendary contract killer Agent 47 to erase his past for real. The surreal new mission, created in collaboration between Eminem, IO Interactive and creative director/producer Paul Rosenberg, takes place on a map packed with dreamlike twists that mirror Slim Shady’s fractured reality. Agents find themselves in a medical facility in Hokkaido that has been transformed into the Popsomp Hills psychiatric hospital. Agent 47 must track Slim Shady across multiple areas, including a broadcast studio, in order to eliminate him without being seen. The mission is filled with nods to Eminem’s discography, such as a poisoned plate of the iconic Mom’s Spaghetti and a Houdini style stage show.
The new content roadmap kicks off with the Eminem vs. Slim Shady season, which adds fresh content alongside the new Elusive Target. Players can look forward to two new challenges, two packs of Featured Contracts, and three returning Elusive Targets, including The Splitter, which features Jean-Claude Van Damme, as well as two returning seasonal events (Holiday Hoarders, Hokkaido Snow Festival). There will also be two new Twitch Drops (Bomb-Ass Dynamite, Solstice Suit) that viewers can unlock by watching Hitman: World of Assassination streams on Twitch for thirty minutes during specific promotional periods.
Alongside the new Elusive Target, IO Interactive has announced that Hitman: World of Assassination will launch on December 1 for the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally platforms. The Eminem and Slim Shady Elusive Target mission will be playable on these devices from day one. The game will also carry the Xbox Play Anywhere label, allowing players to move seamlessly between Xbox consoles and PC with shared progress and achievements.
But is the ROG Xbox Ally not actually a handheld PC that runs Windows?
