iPhone 17 Pro Max: Is Apple Relaxing Its Strict Quality Control?

TECH NEWS – The Cupertino-based company seems to be having more and more problems with quality control.

Apple is probably the last company one would blame for neglecting the strict quality control of its products. However, in the case of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, it seems that the tech giant’s attention to detail is beginning to slip while charging a premium price for its top model. In the latest incident, an owner posted photos of his new device only to discover that the rear glass was slightly misaligned. While only someone with eagle eyes would notice this design flaw, we understand the owner’s concern given that the smartphone starts at $1,200 in the United States.

First, oxidation issues caused the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s paint to change from cosmic orange to rose gold; then, the paint peeled off due to the alleged use of wet wipes. Now, a Reddit user has presented evidence of poor quality control. The iPhone 17 Pro Max in question was purchased from AT&T, and the back glass is clearly shifted in the upper left corner. Had the device been a lower-priced unit rather than a top-of-the-line model, the owner might have overlooked this problem. However, other Reddit users say there are more important issues that need to be addressed.

Some advised him to put a case on it so he wouldn’t have to worry about the rear glass, while others suggested he request a replacement from AT&T. The problem with replacing the device is that the owner risks invalidating the redemption program and would also have to pay a $55 fee. This quality control issue appears to have existed for four years. One user reported a slight discrepancy along the Apple logo on the rear glass of their iPhone 13.

Whether a class action lawsuit will be filed against Apple remains to be seen, but it’s worth noting that the company is exploring a new design for the iPhone 18 with slightly transparent rear glass. This aesthetic change may be an attempt to address the current shortcomings.
