Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake: Will One of the Characters Be Stronger?

Compared to the original game, one of our companions may play a much more prominent role in the remake, which could significantly change the way the adventure feels and flows.

According to a leaked document, the upcoming remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time may make Farah, the Prince’s companion, more powerful. Yesterday, a YouTube video, which has since been removed due to copyright claims, showed slides from Ubisoft’s 2024 internal presentation. These slides included motion capture clips, alpha gameplay footage, and concept art. The Game Post was quick to report on this. One of the main topics of the presentation was Princess Farah, who also appeared in the original 2003 version of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

In the original game, Farah accompanied the prince on most of his missions and participated in battles, but she often cried out for help when in trouble. If an enemy killed Farah, the mission failed. According to the leaked presentation, Farah will return in the Sands of Time remake and accompany the player once again. However, there are no plans to make her a playable character. The presentation emphasizes that players will no longer need to rescue her during battles, suggesting that she will be able to take care of herself.

Combat in this new game has been modernized by combining the usual acrobatic attacks with new, advanced moves. The power of time has been further developed to offer a wider range of options in battle. The combat system and enemies have also been revamped, offering new ways to defeat enemies and improved boss fights. Farah is now a true ally who can fight independently with her bow and perform cooperative attacks. She no longer needs protection.

The remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was announced in September 2020. It had already been in development for two and a half years at Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai studios in India and was scheduled for release in January 2021. However, due to negative reactions to the game’s trailer, its release was postponed several times. In 2023, Ubisoft announced that Ubisoft Montréal, which created the original Sands of Time in 2003, had taken over development duties. The remake is now scheduled for release in January 2026, and last year, Ubisoft announced that its Toronto studio, known for Far Cry 5 and Watch Dogs Legion, had joined Ubisoft Montréal to work on the project together.
