Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: will the black model be a visual step backwards? [VIDEO]

TECH NEWS – The latest flagship model from the South Korean company will appear larger than it actually is.

The all-black Galaxy S26 Ultra may be a step backward for Samsung because a critical design choice could make the smartphone’s frame appear wider than it is. Prolific insider Ice Universe has revealed another interesting detail about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, this time focusing on its aesthetic design. According to the leaker, the black version of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a black frame instead of a silver one, which will give the device a uniform color tone. However, this design choice has a downside. The black frame blends with the black edges of the display, making the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s bezels appear thicker than they are. This would be a visual step backward.

As we recently learned, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s selfie camera will be about 4 mm larger than its predecessor’s, resulting in a wider field of view but at the expense of overall aesthetics. Other details include rounded edges, a 6.9-inch display, frame dimensions of 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9 mm, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, a 5,200-mAh battery, and a dedicated camera island on the back.

Samsung is proceeding cautiously with the camera. There will likely be no changes to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is expected to have the same configuration as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This includes a 200 MP Isocell HP2 main camera, probably with a larger aperture; a 50 MP Isocell JN3 or Sony IMX564 ultra-wide camera; a 50 MP IMX854 5x periscope camera, possibly with a wider aperture; a 12 MP IMX874 selfie camera; and a 12 MP Isocell 3LD S5K3LD 3x telephoto lens, possibly with a smaller 1/3.94″ aperture.

It may not be wise to choose black, but this may only be an initial annoyance because it is still a top-of-the-line model.
