Ayaneo Next II: Massive Display with an Interesting Resolution!

HANDHELD NEWS – It has a large display with a resolution that is uncommon in handheld (or even desktop) PCs.

Its 2400 x 1504 resolution results in a rare aspect ratio of 3:2 (75:47). Fortunately, the Next II will feature an OLED display. Ayaneo is one of the few handheld PC manufacturers to announce a Strix Halo-based device. Unveiled a few months ago, the Next II boasts an exclusive large screen. However, even after its launch earlier this month, Ayaneo has not confirmed the screen size or display specifications. Ayaneo has officially confirmed some of the Next II’s key specifications on social media.

According to Ayaneo, the Next II boasts a 9-inch (22.86 cm) display. Most devices of this type have an 8-inch display, so the Next II may offer a slightly better gaming experience. The most surprising aspect is its resolution: 2400 x 1504. This resolution is unusual for handheld PCs and probably does not yet exist. Most such devices have a resolution of 1280 x 800 or 1920 x 1200. Even the Next II’s direct competitors, the GPD Win 5 and the OneXfly Apex, have a resolution of 1920 x 1200, offering the popular 16:10 aspect ratio. The Next II is closer to 16:10 but not exactly. Not only does the Next II offer a much higher resolution, but it also has a taller, narrower screen than its rivals. With a resolution of 1504p and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz, the display provides a smooth and fluid gaming experience. However, this puts too much strain on the hardware.

This is, of course, the best hardware currently on the market, but it’s not enough to raise the FPS to 165 Hz or above 100 FPS in many modern games. Nevertheless, it provides a satisfactory gaming experience in most games, especially eSports titles. With some tweaking, it also performs well in AAA games. The Next II features a Ryzen AI Max+ 395, a 16-core/32-thread, Zen 5-based APU with a Radeon 8060S iGPU boasting 40 RDNA 3.5 architecture-based compute units.

This is all the information we have about its configuration at this point. We don’t know why it’s taking Ayaneo so long to release the full specifications.
