A new installment in the Turok franchise may be coming soon, as one of the developers hinted.
While the Turok franchise is not as popular today as it was during the Nintendo 64 era, it still has a loyal fan base. Fortunately, the talented team at Saber Interactive, known for World War Z and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, is developing a new game that was unveiled last year. Turok Origins was announced at last year’s The Game Awards, but there has been silence surrounding it since then. Although Saber has not announced a release date, MP1st recently found information confirming that the game will be released in 2026.
The sound designer working on Turok Origins at Saber Interactive set the release window for 2026. There is no specific timeframe for which quarter Saber is targeting, but this has probably not been decided yet. Along with the reveal trailer, Saber also revealed the game’s key features at the time. Players can fight alone or in teams against a variety of dinosaurs, creatures, and bosses that will test their skills to the limit on land, in the sky, in swamps, and in caves. They can engage in intense combat where every available tool must be used to succeed, including melee attacks, special abilities, and finely tuned weapons.
Players can unlock and upgrade their arsenal to dominate battles and neutralize opponents. Plasma weapons, ray guns, sniper rifles, bows, shotguns, and more are at their disposal. They can extract DNA from fallen enemies and the environment to unlock game-changing powers that evolve their appearance in real time. Each DNA power not only improves their look but also offers upgradeable abilities and skills that give them an edge in combat. Throughout Turok’s missions, players travel through breathtaking yet deadly worlds on different planets. From ancient temples and desert canyons to dense jungles, each location holds pieces of an unforgettable, twist-filled story.
The most recent installment in the franchise was Turok: Escape from Lost Valley, developed by Pillow Pig Games and released in 2019 for PC and Xbox One. While it didn’t bring any significant changes to the brand, with a proven developer like Saber, the series may now have a chance at success. The Turok Trilogy, a remaster collection of the original Turok games, was released in 2023. Turok Origins is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
