The game from 1047 Games will soon try to attract renewed attention with its portals and free-to-play business model.
There are no factions. No abilities. No limits. Splitgate: Arena Reloaded fuses the best of Splitgate and Splitgate 2, bringing back the spirit of classic arena shooters. Play for free and choose how you play with customizable loadouts and starting options, from classic modes like Team Deathmatch and King of the Hill to party modes such as Gun Game and Shotty Snipers. A completely rebuilt progression system rewards you after every match, while an overhauled ranked system challenges the best of the best. Five new arenas, six redesigned arenas, three new primary weapons, a new Power Weapon, and dozens of new features are waiting to be discovered.
Josh Watson, design director at 1047 Games and former game director of Rocket League, joined 1047 Games shortly after Splitgate 2 launched in 2025. He said that Splitgate has always been a love letter to the arena shooters the team grew up playing. They have been hard at work rebuilding the game from the ground up, taking the best parts of Splitgate 1 and Splitgate 2, removing what did not work, and refining what did. 1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx added that the community led them back to the arena, pointing to the way the game has incorporated player feedback through regular public tests and transparent sharing of results.
Splitgate: Arena Reloaded will launch on December 17 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Additionally, 1047 Games announced that a mini-documentary will be released on December 9, showcasing the development of the game’s next chapter, the studio’s commitment to the arena genre, and its willingness to listen to broad community feedback.
We are left with one burning question: even though the number two has been removed from the game’s title, will that crucial first impression still cling to 1047 Games’ new release?
