According to rumors, the game announced at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase may finally be revealed soon.
An insider recently leaked that an announcement about a Star Wars game is expected soon. Given that the franchise has more than 100 games, this has sparked a lot of speculation. After Kurakasis’s tweet, fans now have a better idea of which project it might be. The latest hint suggests that the release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is approaching. On December 3, Kurakasis predicted the announcement of a major Star Wars game while ruling out a few candidates. Neither the strategy game Star Wars: Zero Company nor the action-adventure game Star Wars Eclipse is the title the insider was referring to. The new clue that the title includes the words “The Old Republic” further narrows down the possibilities.

Many fans are eagerly awaiting news about the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The remake of the 2003 RPG was announced at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, but development hit several snags, prompting Saber Interactive to take over from Aspyr Media. Amid fears of cancellation, Saber’s creative director, Tim Willits, broke his silence in March. He assured players that all ongoing projects were safe. Presumably, this included the highly anticipated remake.
BioWare’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes place thousands of years before the original film trilogy and introduces new stories and characters. The franchise was turned into an MMORPG in 2011. Many players assume that Kurakasis is referring to a remake of the first game. However, another Star Wars game may use the Old Republic name. A Total War game featuring the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire would attract a large audience. Rumors surfaced in 2024 that Creative Assembly was working on such a tactical strategy game.
The studio recently promised an announcement about Total War at The Game Awards. Evidence that the studio is moving away from its traditional historical themes could suggest a partnership with Star Wars or Warhammer 40K.
