One of this year’s most puzzling Game Awards teasers may have been cracked days before the show, and all signs point in the same direction: the creators of Baldur’s Gate 3 are gearing up to unveil a new project, exposed not by a trailer, but by a desert statue and a freshly registered logo.
One of the biggest questions hanging over The Game Awards 2025 might have been answered barely two days before the ceremony. Geoff Keighley and his team placed a strange statue in a desert area outside Los Angeles, a piece of viral marketing that immediately sparked wild speculation among fans. Theories flew fast, with names like The Elder Scrolls, God of War, and Diablo all thrown into the ring, but none of them turned out to be the real deal.
Instead, it looks like reality will be every bit as exciting, just from a different angle. Everything suggests that the statue is teasing a brand-new game from Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3. The missing piece of the puzzle seems to have arrived via the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), which has registered a new logo and two symbols that clearly match the silhouette of the now famous statue.
The most telling clue is the logo itself, which – as seen on the official EUIPO listing – prominently features the word “Divinity.” For anyone who does not immediately make the connection, Larian’s main series before its recent megahit was titled Divinity: Original Sin, spawning two highly acclaimed RPGs.
Larian, Divinity, and The Statue That Ties Everything Together
Although the new iconography does not explicitly name the rights holder, there are too many coincidences for this to be brushed aside as something unrelated. We are not talking about a random European project that just happens to use the word “Divinity,” but about something significant enough for Geoff Keighley to give it pride of place in his biggest annual show. For the Canadian host and producer, The Game Awards has grown into an even bigger platform than Summer Game Fest, which means only genuinely major reveals get that kind of build-up.
Given the global impact of Baldur’s Gate 3, a new Larian Studios title easily fits that requirement. True to the team’s style, any return to the Divinity: Original Sin universe would likely take the form of a classic, turn-based RPG with clear tabletop inspirations. Playing those games, it is obvious that they operated with a smaller budget than Baldur’s Gate 3, yet both entries remain incredibly well regarded, boasting excellent scores on Metacritic and Steam. The second game, in particular, has often been singled out as an essential experience for RPG fans, and has even been declared a must-play by theGeek.
As for what exactly this potential revival might look like, anything more specific would just be guesswork at this point. We still do not know whether Larian is preparing a long-awaited third mainline entry, a full-scale reboot, or a different take on the universe. The only certainty is that official confirmation has not arrived yet, and that the full reveal will have to wait until the show itself.
What we do know is that there will be plenty of reasons to tune in to The Game Awards on December 12th at 2:00 AM CEST (Central European Summer Time). As usual, the event will be streamed live on the web and on YouTube, with a special pre-show kicking off one hour before the main ceremony to walk viewers through all the major announcements as they happen.
