Divinity: Larian’s New Game Brought Attention to Previous Installments in the Franchise! [VIDEO]

It is perhaps no surprise that Larian Studios’ previous games, not released under the Baldur’s Gate 3 name, have generated significant interest.

The trailer for Larian’s new game, Divinity, was one of the standout moments of the 2025 Game Awards announcements. This renewed interest in the franchise’s latest RPG, Divinity: Original Sin II, which climbed back onto Steam’s list of the most popular games. Currently ranked 199th among the top 250 titles, it reached a 24-hour peak of 10,898 concurrent players, nearly double last month’s 5,930 players, according to Steam Charts.

Although the overall numbers are lower, similar percentage increases can be observed across earlier Divinity titles. Divinity: Original Sin saw its monthly peak rise from 941 to 2,150 players, while Divinity: Dragon Commander, a hybrid of a strategy game and a dating simulator, increased from 14 to 23 players.

Larian Studios has officially announced Divinity, a new RPG set in the world of Rivellon. Target platforms and a release date have not yet been revealed, but the game is being described as Larian’s most ambitious project to date. The gods are silent. Rivellon bleeds. New powers stir. Built by the studio behind Baldur’s Gate III, Larian Studios is aiming to deliver an RPG with unprecedented scope and depth.

While Divinity is a brand-new game that does not require experience with previous Larian titles, players familiar with Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II will benefit from a stronger sense of continuity and deeper understanding.

“Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game titled Divinity. We are ready to bring everything we have done so far into one place. This marks the beginning of something broader, deeper, and more intimate than anything we have created before”, wrote Larian Studios founder and game director Swen Vincke in the press release.

The question remains: when and where will it be released?
