Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties: A Deeper Look at the New Gameplay Features [VIDEO]

SEGA has released a six-minute presentation from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s upcoming title, offering a closer look at its new side stories and gameplay systems.

The newly released trailer highlights Kazuma Kiryu’s seemingly calm and balanced life in Yakuza Kiwami 3. His peaceful days at the Morning Glory Orphanage in Okinawa are soon disrupted by forces attempting to drive him and the children from their home. Having mastered a lightning-fast Ryukyu fighting style inspired by Okinawa, Kiryu reluctantly returns to combat to defend the fragile peace he has found. Alongside improvements to the combat system and the introduction of new minigames, the video also unveils the brand-new Bad Boy Dragon mode.

In Bad Boy Dragon mode, Kiryu must gather a diverse group of delinquents and assert control over the streets to protect Okinawa. Players join the small-time Haisai Girls gang and step into the role of their new leader, guiding them toward becoming Japan’s most feared girl gang. Combat unfolds in Baddies Battles alongside allies, with up to twenty gang members equipped for large-scale clashes. Players can also hop on a motorcycle and launch strategic assaults on enemy bases.

The Dark Ties storyline shifts focus to Yoshitaka Mine, who is tasked with supporting his lieutenant, Tsuyoshi Kanda, as he works to build his reputation and climb the ranks. Within the Kanda Damage Control segment, players tackle dramatic substories, resolve local disputes, and complete various missions throughout the city. In the underground Hell’s Arena fight club, Mine must rely on both intellect and physical strength to survive a series of deadly encounters. His ultimate goal is to dismantle the Hell’s Arena organizers threatening the Nishikiyama Family’s operations. Players will face Hellish Brawls—traditional one-on-one battles that push fighters to their limits—as well as Survival Hell events, intense competitions where hunters relentlessly pursue contestants through treasure-filled tunnels.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties launches on February 12 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
