Although the game was announced two years ago, we are still far from being able to play Blade’s new story.
In 2022, rumors spread that Ubisoft was developing a Blade game. Ubisoft confirmed that this was not true; however, that didn’t mean no one was making a Blade game — just that the French publisher wasn’t behind it. A year later, we learned that Arkane Lyon was developing Marvel’s Blade, a third-person, single-player, action-adventure game set in Paris. It was one of the highlights of The Game Awards 2023 and an exciting announcement. A week later, Arkane Lyon supplemented the announcement with excellent concept art.
Since then, however, we haven’t heard anything. When Arkane Austin closed, we heard from studio director Dinga Bakaba. The head of Arkane Lyon called the closure an incredibly gut-wrenching experience but said nothing directly about Marvel’s Blade. In July, we learned from one of Arkane Lyon’s financial reports that the game entered development at the end of 2024. This means that, by now, the team has spent about a year implementing what they developed in the concept and pre-production phases. So, it’s not surprising that, when a fan asked for information about Marvel’s Blade, the studio’s director and co-creative director, Dinga Bakaba, replied that the studio currently has nothing to share.
The team is hard at work, everyone is super proud and out doing themselves. Please be patient, it will be a special game and we all hope it will be meeting the high standards that we set for ourselves and for you all. 🧡🖤

Bakaba tweeted that the team is working hard and giving it their all. Everyone is very proud. He asked us to be patient, saying that this will be a special game. They hope it meets the high expectations we have set for ourselves and others. For now, it seems that there is no new news about Marvel’s Blade. Hopefully, that will change in 2026. However, if our estimate of how long the studio has been working on the game is correct, we won’t see a teaser trailer until 2027 at the earliest.
If Arkane Lyon takes the standard five to six years to develop an AAA game like Marvel’s Blade, then we won’t get it until 2028 at the earliest.
