Elias Toufexis’ lighthearted tweet quickly gained traction, prompting him to later clarify what he really meant.
Elias Toufexis, best known as the voice of Adam Jensen in Eidos Montréal’s Deus Ex games and most recently heard as Remi Letam in Hell is Us, has taken a swipe at those in charge of the iconic immersive sim franchise. On Twitter, Toufexis shared four images highlighting what he is working on in 2026. One showed Marathon, while the remaining three were marked with simple “NDA” watermarks, indicating that he has at least four projects underway but can only discuss one publicly.
….no Deus Ex because the people in charge are psychopaths.

Toufexis claimed that Deus Ex was missing from his list because those overseeing the franchise are “psychopaths.” The last two entries, Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, were excellent immersive sims and stealth-focused experiences, yet they never achieved the commercial success their critical reception suggested. Despite this, Deus Ex holds a significant place in gaming history, and it is hard to believe there would be no demand for a new installment. Apparently, that demand alone has not been enough to convince decision-makers. Embracer Group reportedly shut down Eidos Montréal’s revival project two years ago, and last April it emerged that the studio had unsuccessfully pitched a new Deus Ex to several publishers, who deemed it too niche.
Toufexis later followed up to clarify his remarks.
Look, I was kind of kidding about them being psychopaths. But they are fucking crazy for not doing another one. #DeusEx

Technically, a Deus Ex game is still in development, though it is merely a remastered version of the original. Its release has been delayed indefinitely following negative feedback and criticism of its trailer. Toufexis later explained that his “psychopath” comment was largely tongue-in-cheek, but he still believes it is crazy that a new Deus Ex is not being made.
