Epic Games Store: Hefty Savings With the Holiday Freebie Games

We saved a considerable amount of money by adding the games to our library on the Epic Games Store.

Between December 18 and January 1, we added every game that was made available for free for 24 hours to our profile. This included Hogwarts Legacy, which was released on December 11. We saved over $550 by not having to purchase these games. The giveaway ended with Epic making two games free on January 1 instead of one: Wildgate, Dreamhaven’s PvP shooter released in 2025, and Total War: Three Kingdoms. With these two games plus the Trine Collection – which was technically four games – the Epic Games Store gave away 20 games during the holiday season.

The full price of all the games would have been $567, including the four Trine games in the Trine Collection bundle. Had we purchased the Trine games separately, the total would have risen to $604. The titles in question include smaller, narrative-driven games priced between $13 and $30; popular indie games; and a few AAA titles priced between $40 and $60. Wildgate and Total War: Three Kingdoms are available for free download from the Epic Games Store until January 8. After that, the usual rhythm will resume with one free game per week, starting with Bloons TD 6 (which was previously free).

Here is Epic’s game lineup from December 11 to January 8: Hogwarts Legacy (December 11-18), Jotun Slayer: Hordes of Hel (December 18), Eternights (December 19), Blood West (December 20), Sorry, We’re Closed (December 21), Paradise Killer (December 22), and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (December 23), The Callisto Protocol (December 24), Disco Elysium: The Final Cut (December 25), We Were Here Together (December 26), Cassette Beasts (December 27), Skald Against the Black Priory (December 28), Viewfinder (December 29), Trine Collection (December 30), Chivalry 2 (December 31), Wildgate (January 1-8), and Total War: Three Kingdoms (January 1-8).

Overall, it’s a solid lineup. Unfortunately, however, several of the titles, including The Callisto Protocol and Chivalry 2, have already been made free on the platform in the past.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
