Could Clive Barker’s Demonik Finally Become a Reality?

Clive Barker’s Jericho, released in 2007, missed the mark, but the 2006 stoner comedy Grandma’s Boy is in the news for a great reason.

The 2006 stoner comedy Grandma’s Boy is in the news for a good reason: The fictional video game featured in the film, Demonik, may become a reality. Despite receiving terrible reviews at the time, Grandma’s Boy was one of the most popular comedies of its time. Allen Covert stars as Alex, a game tester and designer who is forced to move in with his grandmother and her friends. Covert, Barry Wernick, and Nick Swardson co-wrote the screenplay, and Nicholaus Goossen directed the film. It also stars Linda Cardellini, Doris Roberts, Peter Dante, Shirley Jones, Shirley Knight, Joel David Moore, Kevin Nealon, and Nick Swardson.

In the film, Alex creates the game Demonic. He secretly works on the project through the night. In the film, one of his colleagues tries to steal the game and release it as his own. Ultimately, however, Alex proves that the game is his work, and it becomes a success. Years ago, the game almost became a reality, but its release was halted. Recently, Covert spoke with fans at an event and revealed that the game may finally be released. According to Covert, they found out this weekend. He contacted a company called Majesco and told them that they are making a movie and want real game footage that looks good.

They don’t have any money, though, and they don’t want the movie to look cheap, so they asked if there was anything still in beta that would be released soon. Maybe they could collaborate when the movie came out. They got all the great footage, but unfortunately, the company went bankrupt soon after, so the game was never released.

Covert then revealed that one of the game’s developers had recently contacted him to say that they might have found the game. Since this year marks the 20th anniversary of Grandma’s Boy, Covert hopes that the game will finally be released. This is linked to Clive Barker because he had an unreleased game called Demonik, which was meant to be published by… you guessed it, Majesco!
