IO Interactive has teamed up with Nvidia to ensure young James Bond’s adventure looks as good as possible on powerful PCs.
At CES, Nvidia announced that several PC games will take advantage of GeForce RTX technologies, and one of them will be IO Interactive’s 007 First Light. The game will support Nvidia DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, which IO Interactive says is essential for delivering the studio’s intended PC experience.
“Our partnership with Nvidia on 007 First Light allows us to deliver a PC experience that matches the level of quality we believe the Bond franchise deserves. Performance, responsiveness, and visual fidelity all need to feel effortless for the player, and Nvidia GeForce RTX technologies, including DLSS 4, enable us to deliver exactly that,” said Ulas Karademir, Technical Director.
The video shows the game running at nearly 300 FPS. We don’t know what hardware was used, but it was likely a GeForce RTX 5090. It’s also unclear whether the brand-new 6X Multi Frame Generation mode shown at CES is enabled in these scenes. Since the update is expected to arrive in spring and 007 First Light is set to launch on May 27 after a slight delay, it’s safe to assume the final release will support it.
On the other hand, there was no mention of ray tracing, which is a bit strange given that Hitman 3 (later renamed World of Assassination) featured ray-traced sunlight shadows and reflections when it launched in 2021.
IO Interactive also revealed the minimum and recommended PC system requirements for 007 First Light:
Minimum system requirements – 1080p/30 FPS:
Operating system: Windows 10/11 x64 (version not specified)
Processor: Intel Core i5-9500K/AMD Ryzen 5 3500
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660/AMD Radeon RX 5700 or Intel Arc equivalents
VRAM: 8 GB
Free storage space: 80 GB
Recommended system requirements – 1080p/60 FPS:
Operating system: Windows 10/11 x64 (version not specified)
Processor: Intel Core i5-13500/AMD Ryzen 5 7600
Memory: 32 GB RAM
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti/AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or Intel Arc equivalents
VRAM: 12 GB
Free storage space: 80 GB
The Danish studio continues to use its proprietary Glacier engine, previously showcased in Hitman, but 007 First Light introduces major technological upgrades. These include a new volumetric smoke system designed to push the visuals of smoke, fog, and explosions, brand-new animation and AI systems, and improvements to shooting and cover mechanics.
In addition, Nvidia and IO Interactive are giving away a 007-themed GeForce RTX 5090 GPU via Nvidia’s community channels, so it will be worth keeping an eye on Facebook, Instagram, or X.
