Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves: A Fist of the North Star Collaboration Incoming? [VIDEO]

SNK’s fighting game appears to be teasing an unexpected collaboration that could be both surprising and exciting if it becomes reality.

SNK has released a short animated video strongly hinting at a crossover between Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and Fist of the North Star. The clip shows a boy and a girl being threatened by two gang members, only for a mysterious figure to intervene and defeat them using nothing but a finger.

The attackers closely resemble villains from Fist of the North Star, while the distinctive sound effect of the finger strike mirrors the pressure-point sound famously used in the anime. The savior’s arms and legs also match the visual design of Kenshiro, the series’ legendary protagonist.

This is not the first time SNK has teased content in this way. Similar animated previews were previously released for characters such as Wolfgang Krauser, as well as Mr. Karate and Robert Garcia, in both English and Japanese. As such, the new teaser could be setting the stage for downloadable characters arriving with Season 2, which begins in January.

Fist of the North Star is rarely featured in video game collaborations. The most notable recent appearance was Hokuto ga Gotoku, released in 2018 for PlayStation 4 by SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, featuring gameplay reminiscent of the Yakuza series.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and PC. The franchise has spent years out of the spotlight, making SNK’s renewed focus on the series a welcome move. While this is not yet an official announcement, all signs point toward Kenshiro’s inclusion being almost certain.
