The Division 3 is still in development at Ubisoft Massive, and while details remain scarce, Julian Gerighty just hinted at something that got fans genuinely excited.
It has been over two years since Ubisoft Massive Entertainment confirmed it was working on The Division 3, with series creator Julian Gerighty leading the project. Since then, Ubisoft has largely kept the spotlight on The Division 2, continuing to support it with updates and new content. At last year’s Gamescom, the company even revealed more franchise plans, including a survival extraction title, The Division 2: Survivors, and the upcoming mobile MMO The Division Resurgence.
What stood out, however, was the complete lack of talk about The Division 3. That changed during the New Game Plus Showcase, where Gerighty presented The Division 2: Survivors and also answered a question about the third main installment.
He didn’t share much beyond confirming that the game is still in production, but his wording set expectations sky-high. Gerighty reiterated that The Division 3 is in development – which isn’t exactly a secret since Ubisoft has already announced it – but he described it as something huge in scale. In his words, it looks like it’s going to be a “real monster,” and that’s about all he could say at this stage.
Still, he added one notable claim: Massive is working extremely hard on something he believes will have as big an impact as the original The Division. After that brief tease, he quickly moved on, focusing again on Survivors and Resurgence, since those were the projects he was meant to discuss. But judging from the early comments during the interview, fans were far more interested in what little was said about The Division 3.
Hopefully this won’t be the last update we get this year. The Division 2 officially turns seven on March 12, and while Ubisoft Massive has done an impressive job keeping the third-person shooter alive with new content, for the past two to three years many players have been waiting for one thing above all else: the third main installment of the franchise.
It probably won’t launch in 2026, but with any luck, by 2027 we’ll have a clearer picture of when to expect it.
