Forza Horizon 6: Did Its Predecessor Leak Its Release Date?

Thanks to Forza Horizon 5, we now know the release date of Playground Games’ next game.

A leak in Forza Horizon 5 accidentally revealed the release date of Forza Horizon 6 well ahead of next week’s Xbox Developer Direct show. According to a tweet from XBOXF10, a pop-up ad revealed that the game will be released on May 19. However, those who pre-order the Premium Edition or purchase the Premium Upgrade will be able to start playing earlier. Those who pre-order will receive an exclusive, pre-configured Ferrari J50 in Forza Horizon 6. Explore breathtaking Japanese landscapes in over 550 real cars and become a racing legend in the biggest open-world driving adventure in the history of the Forza Horizon series.

Pre-order the Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 6 or purchase the Premium Upgrade to get early access (starting May 15), VIP membership, a Welcome Pack, a Car Pass, a Time Attack Car Pack, an Italian Passion Car Pack (coming after launch), and two premium add-ons (also coming after launch). This date follows an earlier rumor spread by Nate the Hate, an insider. He claimed that Playground is planning to release Forza Horizon 6 in the first half of 2026. The studio’s other major release, the Fable reboot, which will also be featured in the Xbox Developer Direct event, may be released in fall 2026.

The sixth installment of the Forza Horizon series follows the incredible success and acclaim of the fifth installment, which has registered more than 50 million players to date and performed well on the PlayStation 5. Forza Horizon began as an open-world arcade spinoff of Forza Motorsport but has since surpassed Turn 10’s more systematic, competition-based simcade series. Following Turn 10’s latest layoffs, it appears that the Redmond, Washington–based developer has essentially become a support team for Forza Horizon.

As the developers have been hinting at for some time, Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan and offers fans a fantastic open-world experience. According to the original announcement, the game will first be released on Xbox Series and PC, followed by a release on PlayStation 5.
