TECH NEWS – Several factors could break the growth trend seen so far this year.
PC World interviewed technology industry analyst Dr. Ian Cutress, who revealed some interesting points. Nvidia and Intel partnered in the server AI space because customers prefer x86. This is bad news for ARM because it takes away market share previously held by Nvidia’s ARM server CPU. The collaboration was not formed because of gaming; gaming and laptops are not among Nvidia’s priorities, and the company already dominates the laptop gaming market with its graphics cards.
Therefore, it is uncertain whether the collaboration will bring back nForce, Nvidia’s motherboard chipset, or if Nvidia will provide integrated graphics for Intel’s future processors. While these would be interesting developments, artificial intelligence promises to generate significant revenue for Intel and Nvidia. Consequently, it’s likely that gamers will once again be the ones to suffer, as they have been the most affected by price increases thus far.
Another reason for the lack of interest in gaming products is the single-digit percentage decline in the PC market due to memory shortages in 2026, according to the analyst. Chip manufacturers are less interested in introducing new PC products because the market is expected to decline in the short term. The analyst cited Asus as an example; the company has announced that it is focusing entirely on AI. If there are no new PC products this year, Nvidia will likely only make GeForce RTX 5000 Super graphics cards available to gamers by the end of the year, if that will even happen.
In short, the PC market is preparing for a downturn. We should not expect Intel to launch products with large Nvidia integrated GPUs for gaming. Manufacturers are all turning to AI to generate revenue.
