Enshrouded is finally going console-side: Version 1.0 gets a window, and major updates are locked in

Its open world crushed it on Steam two years ago, and now we finally know when it’s heading to consoles. Enshrouded is marking its second anniversary in style. Keen Games has also confirmed the game will receive several major updates.

Two years after entering early access, one of the most intriguing open-world survival games in recent memory has finally pinned down its definitive launch. Enshrouded will roll out “Version 1.0” in the fall of 2026. It’s a date worth celebrating especially for players for whom Steam and PC still feel like a foreign dialect. As previously promised, the end of early access will also bring the game to consoles. Specific platforms haven’t been named yet, but PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have been mentioned in the past.

Enshrouded isn’t done telling its story

The full release isn’t the only piece of good news Keen Games shared. The studio also announced an incoming anniversary update that includes combat tweaks, fresh armor, and bug fixes. On top of that, the eighth major content update in the project’s history is scheduled for the second quarter of the year. This patch will add a much-requested feature that hasn’t been detailed yet, but is said to let players “easily explore other players’ bases.”

The developers also made it clear that launch is a milestone, not a finish line. “Version 1.0 isn’t the last page of the book – it’s the start of a new chapter in development. There will be continued improvements, additional content, and more,” they said in a press release. The announcement also thanked players for sticking with the game – which still maintains a very high user count on Steam – and confirmed that it has already surpassed five million players.

Enshrouded has had a fairly unusual journey. Its debut was almost completely eclipsed by Palworld, which launched just days earlier. Even so, the game managed to carve out its own space, both at release and especially over time. With a track record of constant updates and meaningful improvements – even if performance still needs work – it’s one of those cases where early access genuinely pays off… and that’s something we’ll always celebrate.
