Given that the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was canceled just before release, we’re not surprised they think that.
Following Ubisoft’s recent announcement of significant restructuring, the company is under attack from all sides: employees are planning to strike, the share price has fallen to an all-time low, and fans are outraged. The studio’s social media team has apparently done everything it can to cause even more confusion and unrest among gamers with its strange reaction to a new leak related to the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake.
Several leaks have occurred, the latest of which revealed the supposed title of the remake, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. This information came from a PEGI rating, arguably more significant than the leak itself. The latest leak came in the form of a new figurine depicting Edward Kenway, the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed IV. The statue was shared on Twitter after appearing on the resale platform Vinted, where the seller identified it as a new figurine to be released later this year.

This leak doesn’t reveal much that we didn’t already know: the remake is indeed coming. Rumor has it that the statue will be included in the Collector’s Edition of the remake. For some reason, however, the leaked statue prompted an immediate response from the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account. They used the classic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas meme, “Ah s***, here we go again.” Ubisoft thus subtly confirmed that the remake is in the works and that we will soon be able to “start again” on Edward Kenway’s journey.
Instead of reacting excitedly to the unofficial confirmation, however, Assassin’s Creed fans responded with even greater anger towards Ubisoft. The majority of users immediately expressed a negative attitude. One of them said: “What? Are you going to cancel it like you did with The Sands of Time?” However, if Ubisoft had ever considered canceling the Black Flag remake, this response probably would never have been published. It’s much more likely that this is a subtle hint that the remake will be released soon, even if delayed.
